At Sofia Art Academy, we’re teaching how to draw anime and manga characters using traditional way - hand drawing (paper, pencils, markers, paints and etc.). When you master your skills using traditional materials, you’ll be able to easily apply it to digital approach.

Many beginners choose anime or manga as their first drawing style because it looks very simple and cute. However, if you want to draw anime and manga character from scratch, you need to understand all the basics of body proportions and constructions, and structure as well as basics of the constructive portraiture. 

If you want to draw anime bodies from your imagination, you need to know human anatomy. Of course, it seems that anime characters are easier to draw than real people, but not that much!

We'll teach you from the basics of drawing of human bodies and heads, to advanced level of designing your own anime or manga characters. We'll explain, with hands-on demonstrations, step-by-step how to determine a character's head and figure constructions, how to draw dynamic poses as well as how to figure out the proportions in perspective. We'll show you how to turn a simplified skeleton drawing into a 3D figures with correct proportions and muscles anatomy.
